The European Organic Congress 2022 took place physically in Bordeaux, France, on 16-17 June 2022.
This year’s edition aimed to propel the discussion on how the organic movement is heading for the 25% organic target and the EU Green Deal. The congress participants engaged in novel initiatives in sustainability labelling and how organic takes part in this development. The programme also deep-dived into the first 6 months of EU Organic regulation 2018/848, the details on the regulation are available on the Commission’s websiteour website and in our regulation guidelines.
As part of the interactive sessions, participants discussed how the organic supply chain is resilient and should remain so in light of the recent crises; that the organic sector needs to be more active in co-creating solutions reflecting the needs of agroecological practices in light of digitalising agriculture; and that organic offers many solutions in the fight against climate change. The European organic movement expressed its solidarity with the Ukrainian organic movement and welcomed the Ukrainian organic movement to talk about the impact of the war in Ukraine on organic production and the supply chain.
