This year, as an exception, the Post-Congress excursion, taking place on 12 September, is offered complimentary to all participants, participation is subject to registration accessible via the EOC’s ticketing platform. Kindly note that the excursions have limited capacity, and registration for them will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Congress participants have the option to join one of two available excursions.

Egedi Winemaker’s Farm (Egedi Bormíves Tanya in Hungarian) is a family-owned, small-scale wine farm in the world-famous vineyard of the city of Eger. They work with organic farming techniques and methods. The farm has a vineyard, a small press house and a small cellar. The owner of the wine farm is Richárd Farkas.
The Research and Development Centre of the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University carries out research and development activities in the fields of viticulture, oenology and biotechnology. They support the innovation capacity of their partners with an ever-expanding range of tools and a broad portfolio of services.
The Experimental Vineyards and Winery (KSZB) operates the university vineyard and winery site in the Kőlyuktető vineyard in Eger. KSZB manages the university’s vine gene bank, which contains over a thousand (!) different varieties. The area under cultivation currently covers 22 hectares and the wine processing capacity reaches 4000 hectolitres. Barrel ageing and storage of the sample wines is carried out in a 1200 m2 riolitic wood cellar on the Kőlyuk vineyard. In addition to providing viticultural and oenological research capacity, the KSCB is also used as a training centre for viticultural and oenological engineers.

Gál Farm (Tanya in Hungarian) – located in Bugac puszta, in the middle of the Great Plain, on the border of Kiskunság National Park – has been working with organic farming since 2002 on 215 hectares. Gál farm is a partner of the ÖMKi’s on farm research network for years and participates in ancient grain variety tests and other programmes. They keep indigenous Hungarian Grey Steppe and racka sheep in free-range pastures. Livestock manure is composted and used to replenish soil nutrients.
With more than 20 years of experience and knowledge in organic farming and agroecological methods, they are thrilled to share and welcome visitors to the farm.
