How to get to Cordoba?

Cordoba is located in the South of Spain in the province of Cordoba in the Andalusia region. Cordoba does not have an airport, hence, the preferred method of arrival is by train after reaching one of the nearby airports. The closest airports are in:
- Sevilla
- Malaga
- Madrid

SEVILLE
I. By public transport
From Seville Airport (San Pablo) to Cordoba train station:
1, Go from the Seville Airport to the Seville train station (Estación Sevilla Santa Justa):
- Bus (EA Line): Dedicated airport shuttle. Approximate cost: 4€. Duration: 30-40 minutes. Stop: 3rd stop from the airport.
- Taxi, Uber, Cabify, Bolt: Convenient and direct. Approximate cost: 20-30€. Duration: 20-30 minutes.
Once you arrive at Seville train station, there are two train companies that operate routes to Córdoba:
- Renfe: https://www.renfe.com/es/es
- Iryo : https://iryo.eu/es/home
You can take AVE (high-speed train), which takes around 47 minutes and there are 15 trains a day. Ticket prices can differ from 10 euros to 100 euros.
II. By car
From Seville Airport to Cordoba city (144 km and takes around 1h 45 mins depending on traffic conditions).
Documents required to rent a car:
- A valid and recognised EU driving licence (digital driving licences are not accepted).
- A valid identification document.
- Over 21 years of age and 1 year old to hire a vehicle.
- Credit or debit card.
The routes to get to Cordoba from Seville:
- Sevilla Airport is located next to the motorway that connects Sevilla with Cordoba. At the exit of the airport take the A4 towards Cordoba.

MALAGA
I. By public transport
From Malaga Airport (Costa del Sol) to Cordoba train station:
1, Go from the Malaga Airport to the Malaga train station (Estación de Tren María Zambrano):
- Suburban Train (C1): Cost-effective and time-efficient. Approximate cost: 1.80-2.70€. Duration: 10-15 minutes.
- Bus (Line A): Affordable public transportation. Approximate cost: 3€. Duration: 25-30 minutes.
- Taxi or Uber: Convenient and direct. Approximate cost: 20-30€. Duration: 15-20 minutes.
2, Go from the Malaga train station (Estación de Tren María Zambrano) to Cordoba train station
Once you arrive at Malaga train station, there are two train companies that operate routes to Córdoba:
- Renfe: https://www.renfe.com/es/es
- Iryo : https://iryo.eu/es/home
You can take AVE (high-speed train), which takes around 1 hour and there are 18 trains a day. Ticket prices can differ from 11 euros to 139 euros.
II. By car
From Malaga Airport to Cordoba city (170 km and takes around 2 hours depending on traffic conditions and the specific route taken).
Documents required to rent a car:
- A valid and recognised EU driving licence (digital driving licences are not accepted).
- A valid identification document.
- Over 21 years of age and 1 year old to hire a vehicle.
- Credit or debit card.
There are different routes to get to Cordoba from Malaga:
- A45 (2h), through Lucena: 2h
- A4-A92, through Ecija 2h 35 min

MADRID
I. By public transport
From Madrid Airport (Barajas Adolfo Suárez) to Cordoba train station:
1, Go from the Madrid Airport to the Madrid train station (Puerta de Atocha), you can reach it by:
- Bus Expres 203: Direct service from Terminal 1, T2, and T3 to the train station. Duration: 40-60 minutes. Operating hours: 06:00-23:00. Frequency: Every 15-20 minutes. Cost: 5€.
- Metro: Take metro line L8 to Nuevos Ministerios and transfer to local trains C2, C4, C7, or C10 towards Estación Madrid Puerta Atocha. Duration: 40 minutes. Cost: 4.50-8€.
- Taxi, Uber, Cabify, Bolt: Convenient options for a quicker journey. Duration: 20-40 minutes. Cost: 22-30€.
2, Go from the Madrid train station (Puerta de Atocha) to Cordoba train station
Once you arrive at Madrid train station, there are two train companies that operate routes to Córdoba:
- Renfe: The journey duration is around 2 hours, with ticket prices ranging between 26.50€ – 80.65€. Trains run approximately every 40 minutes.
- Iryo: The journey duration is around 2 hours, with ticket prices ranging between 16.00€ – 41.22€. Please note that Iryo has limited service with only 10 trains per day, starting from 6:36 AM and the last train departing at 21:20.
II. By car
From Madrid Airport to Cordoba city (408 km 4 hours 30 minutes approximately)
Madrid airport offers a wide selection of car rental companies, conveniently located in Terminals 1 and 4.
Documents required to rent a car:
- A valid and recognised EU driving licence (digital driving licences are not accepted).
- A valid identification document.
- Over 21 years of age and 1 year old to hire a vehicle.
- Credit or debit card.
There are different routes to get to Cordoba from Madrid:
- A4, through Despeñaperros: 4h15mins (Recommended route).
- N401-N420 through Toledo and Ciudad Real: 5h15mins.
- A42-CM403 through Toledo and Almadén: 6h20mins.
