Szilvia Bencze works as a research lead at the Hungarian Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (ÖMKi). Earlier, she worked for 20 years for the Centre for Agricultural Research in Martonvásár where she participated in oat and soybean breeding besides her primary research focus on the impacts of global climate change on cereals. At ÖMKi, she got involved in participatory as well as evolutionary breeding activities with cereals. She thinks, producing organic heterogenous materials, and later maybe organic varieties can be a successful way for ÖMKi and their on-farm partners to contribute to the improved organic seed supply and a more secure organic production in Hungary.
