  • Jérôme Cinel is the director of Interbio Nouvelle-Aquitaine since 20 years. 
  • Interbio is the organic interbranch organization of the South West of France based in Bordeaux.  
  • Jérôme contributed to the creation of two brands : Bio Sud-Ouest, which is a label that combines organic and local, and Territoire Bio Engagé, which is a brand dedicated to municipalities that have good results in promoting both organic in schools and acres of land.
  • Jérôme studied geography and rural development strategy at the University of Clermont-Ferrand.
  • He also recently inherited a small family farm that he converted to organic.

    This session explored how the organic movement is positioning itself in the crucial issue of the role of farmers in the agri-food chain, following the fairness principle of organic farming. We saw how the movement is working to strengthening the bargaining power of farmers through different initiatives: a representative from Valoritalia showcased the organic group certification, providing valuable pioneer insights, while a representative from Bioland shared with us their work on the mechanism on sustainability initiatives present in the CMO regulation.
