Dr. Péter Mikó is the leader of the Cereal Breeding Department of HUN-REN Centre for Agricultural Research, where he is coordinating the national market leader wheat breeding program of Martonvásár and also the triticale breeding activities. Dr. Mikó also leads Hungary’s first organic breeding program on einkorn, emmer and bread wheat. The results of his breeding work have so far been in 13 registered varieties, and was embodied in 33 variety candidates still examined in state variety trials. He is member of the board of the Hungarian Plant Breeders’ Association, leader of the Organic Seed Working Group of the National Seed Association and member of the Plant Breeding Scientific Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, as well as member of the European Consortium for Organic Plant Breeding (ECO-PB) and EUCARPIA.
