Dr. István Nagy graduated as an agricultural engineer in 1992 and obtained his PhD degree in 2007 in Mosonmagyaróvár. He is also a practicing beekeeper with 150 hives. Initially, he taught animal husbandry and forage science as an engineering teacher. In 1994, he became a departmental engineer at the Pannon University of Agricultural Sciences, then an assistant professor, and later an associate professor in 2008. At the university, he taught pig breeding, rabbit and fur farming, and beekeeping.
Between 2006 and 2010, he was deputy mayor of Mosonmagyaróvár, then mayor from 2010 to 2014, and has been a member of Parliament ever since. In 2014, he was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and in 2018, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture, a position he continues to hold.
